In the rural and underserved regions of Illinois there is a shortage of psychiatrists to serve Illinois residents resulting in long wait times. As a result, rural primary care providers manage ongoing chronic behavioral health conditions, sometimes with very little training to do so. Therefore, the BHWC is providing this training to primary care providers so they can better manage chronic behavioral health conditions in their patient panels.
